At 11:30 a.m. Monday, a three-car collision occurred in the
southbound lanes of Interstate 275 at Sligh Avenue, just moments
after another accident had been cleared from the same location.
Earlier that morning, the driver of a garbage truck had lost
control of the vehicle, eventually coming to a stop straddling the
guardrail and blocking the right lane for almost an hour. Florida
state troopers had just finished clearing the accident and reopening
the lanes when the driver of one car, failing to notice brake lights
ahead, slammed into the back of another vehicle. This vehicle, in
turn, rear-ended the vehicle in front of it.
The two drivers who were hit from behind were both taken to the
hospital in critical condition.
