Three-Car Accident Leaves Two Drivers in Critical Condition

by Administrator 17. February 2010 02:49

At 11:30 a.m. Monday, a three-car collision occurred in the southbound lanes of Interstate 275 at Sligh Avenue, just moments after another accident had been cleared from the same location.

Earlier that morning, the driver of a garbage truck had lost control of the vehicle, eventually coming to a stop straddling the guardrail and blocking the right lane for almost an hour. Florida state troopers had just finished clearing the accident and reopening the lanes when the driver of one car, failing to notice brake lights ahead, slammed into the back of another vehicle. This vehicle, in turn, rear-ended the vehicle in front of it.

The two drivers who were hit from behind were both taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Driving in Snow and Ice

by Administrator 12. February 2010 02:48

As record low temperatures and snow build up in the south, it is important to be prepared for driving in adverse winter weather. As you prepare for a weekend getaway or vacation this month, remember that many areas are still receiving inches of snow and ice that can make driving dangerous.

All drivers should approach potentially icy roads with caution. Drive slowly, leaving three times as much room between you and other drivers as you normally would. If your car begins to skid, do not pump your brakes as this can cause your vehicle to spin out of control. Instead, steadily apply the brakes while turning your steering wheel so that you tires are pointed in the direction in which your rear wheels are sliding. This will help you to regain control of the car more quickly.

A Lakeland police officer is dead following a three-vehicle accident that occurred in Polk County on Monday afternoon.

Hotel Guests Relocated After One Death and Two Others Seriously Sick

by Administrator 18. December 2009 02:35

Hotel guests at a luxury hotel in Miami have been relocated to another hotel following an outbreak of bacteria in the water.  The bacteria has been responsible for the death of one hotel guest, and at least two others becoming sick.

The hotel guests were sent to other hotels in hopes of preventing others from coming into contact with Legionnaire's disease.  Individuals can become sick from this bacteria by breathing in mist or vapor that contains the bacteria.

An investigation into the outbreak of the bacteria is currently occurring. More information should be available at a later time.
