Driving in Snow and Ice

by Administrator 12. February 2010 02:48

As record low temperatures and snow build up in the south, it is important to be prepared for driving in adverse winter weather. As you prepare for a weekend getaway or vacation this month, remember that many areas are still receiving inches of snow and ice that can make driving dangerous.

All drivers should approach potentially icy roads with caution. Drive slowly, leaving three times as much room between you and other drivers as you normally would. If your car begins to skid, do not pump your brakes as this can cause your vehicle to spin out of control. Instead, steadily apply the brakes while turning your steering wheel so that you tires are pointed in the direction in which your rear wheels are sliding. This will help you to regain control of the car more quickly.

Steps pedestrians can take to keep them safe near busy intersections

by Administrator 16. December 2009 06:18

Millions of pedestrians walk near busy intersection every day. As a result of the large volume of pedestrians, there are a significant number of accidents, in which cars strike pedestrians.

While drivers are often responsible for these accidents, the responsibility sometimes falls on the pedestrian. To reduce the chance of being struck by a car, pedestrians should take a number of steps.

For instance, pedestrians should only cross busy intersections where there are pedestrian crossings. Moreover, they should only try to cross these intersections when traffic signals indicate that it is safe.
