Trooper Injured in Tampa Truck Accident

A Florida Highway Patrol trooper was injured in a car accident Wednesday.

According to officials with the Highway Patrol, motorcycle trooper James Goethe had pulled over the driver of a 2002 Acura on Interstate 4 near 22nd Street when the accident occurred. Police say the motorcycle was parked in font of the Acura when a truck - unable to come to a stop - slammed into the back of the vehicle. The force of the impact sent the car forward into the motorcycle and Goethe was thrown to the ground,.

Goethe was transported by ambulance to Tampa General Hospital where he is listed in stable condition. The other drivers involved were not injured in the accident.

Police say the accident remains under investigation. No citations have been issued.
